The initial inspiration came from shadows reflected on grass. Months later she came up with a technique that didn't create the object she chose on canvas as an image that was flat. Rather the subject is transformed into a reproduction of itself in which the painting becomes the carrier of it's personal interpretation by painting, particularly when the subjects are alive or perishable for example, like humans or fruits. Alexa's painting style has an ephemeral quality, and all that remains of Alexa Meade is her photograph. Techniques of photography and painting closely synchronized, which results in a two-dimensional, flat space that achieves trompe l'oeil. The only areas of the photo such as the hair, or eyes, show the three-dimensional dimension. Meade frequently integrates her paintings in the 3D world around them. They can interact in the world she has created for herself. It eliminates any distinction between painting, photography and installation.
